Community Outreach

At Cubist, we are dedicated to improving the quality of people’s lives through the discovery and development of novel acute care therapies. We are also committed to enhancing the vitality of the communities in which we operate.

Our ability to translate science into new hope for patients around the world hinges on the ability to prepare the next generation of leaders in life sciences fields. Excellence in other fields such as technology and engineering are needed to ensure global competitiveness and drive innovation. Because of this, Cubist’s philanthropic efforts are focused on supporting organizations with programs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). We award grants to STEM programs, primarily those targeting underserved middle and high school students in Massachusetts, and we encourage our employees to volunteer with these organizations.

Since 2008, Cubist has awarded more than $1 million to nonprofit organizations with programs that are inspiring young minds to pursue careers in STEM fields and providing ways for teachers to incorporate creative techniques in their classrooms. In addition to its philanthropic grants, since 2009, Cubist has also helped to recognize innovative science teachers across New England. Through a partnership with the New England Patriots Radio Network and 98.5 The Sports Hub, Cubist has presented its Science Education Leadership Award, and in 2012 awarded $5,000 to the science department of this year’s winner, Sean Muller of Merrimack High School.

At Cubist, public service and volunteer work are part of our corporate culture. We host science classroom visits where students engage in hands-on learning and career exploration. Our employees also actively participate in events and initiatives with other educational, cultural and human service nonprofits.
